Jacob Schroeder got his start in 2008 cooking around Des Moines while attending the Iowa Culinary Institute. Shortly after graduation in 2010, Jacob moved to Denver Colorado to broaden his skillset. His passion for food and cooking deepened while working as a line cook, pastry cook and occasional private chef in neighborhood restaurants, country clubs, food carts and at fine dining restaurants, most notably, Beast and Bottle. In 2013 he set off on a self-guided stagiers tour of Portugal and Germany, working stints at the 2 Michelin starred restaurants Ocean, Vila Joya and Seven Seas and finishing at the 3 Michelin Starred Restaurant Aqua in Wolfsburg, Germany.
In 2015 Jacob moved back to Iowa and began working as a line cook at Workiva in Ames, Iowa which has given him the opportunity to explore more food cultures and refine his cooking skills. In April 2019, Jacob started his own company, Crafted Food Services, with the mission of making people happy through food by fostering an environment where people can make connections within their communities.
